In the summer for 2012 I had the fortunate opportutnity to work as a Scenic Intern for The Pacific Conservatory for the Performing Arts (PCPA). I was employed for 3 months in the beautiful town of Santa Maria, California.
During my time there, I worked on four shows: The Rivals, Legally Blonde, Daddy Long Legs and Three Sisters.
Daily work included: keeping the shop clean, construction of scenery and repairs on tools in the shop. Load in and Strikes for all shows. Each show would run for a set time in the main theatre, the Marion, and then would be transported to The Solvang Theatre festival in Solvang, California, which is an outdoor theatre.
I learned a wide variety of new techniques, technical lingo and knowledge at how a proffessional theatre company is run. This was an incredible opportunity for me and would highly recommend this experince to anyone who is interested in learning a great deal about Technical Theatre.
